The Code covers both the need to minimise the intrusion of cameras on peoples privacy, but also to ensure that where it is in legitimate use, images are recorded as clearly as possible, giving the most accurate information possible. Hence there is a legal requirement that CCTV systems are initially fit for purpose, are used responsibly and that they are well maintained at all times.
